Every department store, mall or boutique chain employs a team of Purchasing Agents, also known as corporate or wholesale buyers, depending on business size and reach.  They are generally responsible for procuring the merchandise items to populate the store shelves and racks.  Some are specialized for certain types of merchandise items to give them leverage in dealing with suppliers of toys, apparel, electronic products, leather goods, jewelry, etc. The objective is to populate the relevant store shelves with products the customers of the store will buy, allow high merchandise shelf turnover rate and provide the best returns for the store.
